Recycling slums. Urban recycling in the Almanjayar's neighborhood

Throughout much of Europe between 1955 and 1975, there was an accelerated demand on the outskirts of major cities for mass housing. The object of study here are slums that were built during this period. Factors such as location, an outdated concept of housing and the lack of infrastructure and public amenities have helped create situations of social marginalization.

We look for ways to transform these pieces of city in response to the demands of modern society, namely:

_greater choice and ease of access to social housing to avoid gentrification,

_programmatic flexibility in response to different households and the breaking down of the boundaries between public and private,

_the generation of media for social interaction and exchange on small scales that help enrich communities and prevent social exclusion.

Moreover, we consider that this project was the most apropiate for introducing the BIM Methodology into the studio because of its innovating and mixed-use programm. This was a great experience that showed us all the advantages this methodollogy has and at the same time how to implement BIM processes in companies of the construction sector and been able to lead the planning, production and management in projects using BIM Methodology in any scenario.
