PFC_Research in the andalusian coast. Madrevieja's river park and Carteia's archeological center
The intervention in this landscape is realised at two levels: one is territorial, dealing with the natural areas of the bay, and the other industrial, as in the local creek around Madrevieja stream.
At the territorial level, giving the bay and the network of nature its own infrastructure, a greenway, building rail infrastructure, currently partly abandoned, would create a new independent communication ring. Thus the erosion of the bay's natural landscape would cease.
Furthermore, the intervention will aim to achieve a natural discontinuity using the Madrevieja stream which would become a part of both the industry as well as the city while qualifying as a natural area itself. We would create a riverside park around the stream, from San Roque to the mouth of the river Guadarranque. This Madrevieja river park stream is generated on one side of the existing infrastructure, and on the other by creating a new infrastructure of "pedestrain pipes" that mimick the oil refinery pipes already roaming this industrial landscape.
Thus, the main design lines will merge with the many lines of industrial infrastructure in the area and seek to find a common language within the stream. Among the many uses and facilities that arise related to water and wildlife native to the area, the project also incorporates an archaeological research centre linked to Carteia, the area's major archeological site.
